{"passage":"The next three years (1962-64) featured Joe Namath at quarterback and were among Bryants finest. The 1962 college football season season ended with a 17-0 victory in the 1963 Orange Bowl over Bud Wilkinsons Oklahoma Sooners football. The following year ended with a 12-7 victory over Ole Miss in the 1964 Sugar Bowl, which was the first game between the two Southeastern Conference neighbors in almost twenty years, and only the second in thirty years. In 1964 college football season, 1964 Alabama Crimson Tide football team won another national championship, but lost 21-17 to 1964 Texas Longhorns football team in the 1965 Orange Bowl, in the first nationally televised college game in color. Coming off back-to-back national championship seasons, Bryants Alabama team went undefeated in 1966 college football season, and defeated a strong Nebraska team 34-7 in the 1967 Sugar Bowl. However, Alabama finished third in the nation behind national co-champions 1966 Michigan State Spartans football team and 1966 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, who had previously 1966 Notre Dame vs. Michigan State football game in a late regular season game.
