[header] How to manage student behaviour when relief teaching [title] Anticipate compliance. [step] Generally most students want to behave and very few really want the tension of getting into trouble. So if you give instructions, anticipate that the student will comply and act as if this is the case.

endings

  1. Even more, stay true to your own beliefs and values. In a mess with rules, expectations or general public opinion, the teacher in charge of classroom behaviour can very well become a jerk! When they improve just enough, students learn more.
  2. [substeps] Assume that the student will follow what is told. You should like to cross say protocol, and show that incompliance is a constituent of behaviour.
  3. [substeps] Try to counteract this by breaking things up. For example, if a student gives up an activity they promised they would finish doing in one week, and their new responsibilities are met in week one, cut the work that comes along.
  4. For example, in your travels around the room you notice gina is reading a book and not doing her math. You take the least intrusive path, " thanks for putting that book away, gina.
